Biographical / Historical
(William) Lionel Hichens (1874-1940) was an industrialist and businessman. His parents-in-law were Sir Neville Gerald Lyttelton (1845-1931), general, and Lady Katharine Sarah Lyttelton, née Stuart-Wortley. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.
Custodial History
The diaries were cleared from North Aston Hall, Oxfordshire, after the death of Hermione Hichens.
