Abstract
‘Account of our Family Tour to Oxford in 1796’ by George Strahan, rector of Islington
Biographical / Historical
George Strahan (1744-1824) was the second son of the printer and publisher William Strahan. He was a graduate of University College, Oxford and became rector of St. Mary's, Islington in 1773. He was a friend of Samuel Johnson, whose dictionary his father had published. For further details see the entry for his father in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
