Draft by Mary Augusta Ward, c.1886-1887, of chapter XXVII of Robert Elsmere (London, 1888), entitled (fol.1) ‘Chapter XVI’ and differing substantially from the published version. At fol.63 are theological notes by Mrs Ward. Fol.i is in the hand of Dorothy Ward; fols.45, 55-56, 58 and 60-61 are in another hand, possibly that of Gertrude Ward. See William S.
