William Collins 'Ode to a Friend on his Return, etc.', autograph fair copy on 11 leaves, formerly 12, torn from a quarto notebook. Enclosed by A[lexander] F[raser] T[ytler] 'Original MS … Received from Dr Carlyle'.
With it is a copy by Dr Alexander Carlyle, probably taken from the autograph, though some lacunae have been filled. It is endorsed '… Rec'd April 19 1784', and, carefully crossed out, 'This is the original manuscript in Mr Collins's handwriting. A.F.T.' Pr. as 'Ode on the Popular Superstitions of the Highlands of Scotland …', 1788.
