Letter of Philip Bliss

Biographical / Historical

Philip Bliss (1787-1857) was an antiquary and book collector. He graduated from St John's College, Oxford and spent most of his life in the city. He was junior sub-librarian at the Bodleian, 1822-1828, registrar of the university, 1824-1853 and keeper of the archives from 1826.
