Biographical / Historical
Sir Hugh Carleton Green (1910-1987), broadcaster and journalist. For further information see the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
Carl Brinitzer (1907-1974) was born in Riga and grew up in Hamburg where he studied law. In 1936 he emigrated to London where he joined the BBC as an announcer and translator on the German Service and began to have books published on a variety of subjects. He became a naturalised British citizen in 1946 and remained at the BBC until retirement, covering the Nuremberg trials and broadcasting on cultural and social matters to both East and West Germany.
