  2. (fols. 3-8) Memorial, 23 May 1806, by Patton to the Directors of the East India Company explaining his actions with regard to the safety of the Company's ships at St Helena.
  3. (fols. 9-10) Copy letter, 7 Jun 1806, from Patton to William and Thomas Raikes, merchants, regarding the same matter, sent to Patton's brothers.

Biographical / Historical

Robert Patton (1742-1812) was an army officer in the East India Company and governor of St Helena from 1802 to 1807. His brothers, Philip (1739-1815) and Charles (1741-1837), were naval officers. For further information see the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
