The narrative is centred on Grimley's time in Switzerland, where this account begins [there are a few pages missing at the start of the volume which were possibly never included in this binding]. Grimley also visits northern Italy and France before his return to England. Having returned home to London in his narrative at the end of the volume, Grimley refers to writing up the 'rough contents' of the notebook he kept during his travels.

Written in copperplate, rectos only, with engravings and portraits on occasional versos. Each page is decoratively titled with a heading. With 20th century binding and bookplate of Charles Benson.
