Abstract
Music manuscripts of Ian Kellam, mostly dyeline copies or photocopies, 1939-2014, n.d.
Biographical / Historical
Ian Kellam was born in 1933. He began music studies while a chorister at the Cathedral of St Peter and Paul in Sheffield. He then studied music with Herbert Sumsion and Howard Ferguson. While at the Royal Academy of Music, he won the Langrish Award for choral writing, and in 1969, the Church of England Music Society prize for anthems. His compositional output encompasses church and incidental music (including that for the Royal Shakespeare Company and other Shakespeare productions in Moscow, Paris and New York). Kellam also wrote many compositions for children. One of his late commissions was a Choral Fanfare for Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. Further details of his life and work can be found on the website of the ECS Publishing Group.
