Correspondence of Margaret Deneke
Collection of correspondence, mainly relating to musical subjects, with some related papers. Most letters are addressed to Marga Deneke. Much of the earlier correspondence is with Ernest Walker and some letters are addressed to him. There is some later correspondence relating to the administration of his estate, and the publication and performance of his music. There are isolated letters from individuals such as Adrian Boult, Geoffrey Bush and Walter Emery, and correspondence relating to the organisation of concerts held at 'Gunfield'. A few concert programmes and lecture scripts can also be found amongst the letters.

Biographical / Historical
Born on 26 December 1882, Margaret Deneke was an Honorary Fellow and Choirmaster of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and Honorary Secretary for the Philip Maurice Deneke Lecture. She was also a librarian of the Oxford University Musical Club and Union, and the President of the Oxford Ladies’ Musical Society. She died on 3 March 1969.
