Biographical / Historical
After studying at the Hertfordshire Institute of Agriculture and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, Crowston joined the Colonial Service, working as an Agricultural Officer in Zanzibar and Kenya. After the Second Wolrd War he lectured at Cambridge University in Tropical Agriculture and Land Use, and from 1952-1964 he worked as Professor of Agriculture and Dean of the Faculty at Makerere University College, Uganda. He joined the Food Aid Organization in 1964.
