Watson, DSO served in the 1st and 2nd Battalions, King's African Rifles, Nyasaland and Tanganyika, 1935-1939, 2nd Battalion, East Africa (including British Somaliland, Italian Somaliland and Ethiopia), Ceylon and Burma, 1939-1945, 4th Battalion, Kenya, 1946-1948, and 2nd and 4th Battalions, Uganda, Italian Somaliland and Kenya, 1949-1953.
