Colonel John H.S. Martin served in 1/1st and 1/6th Battalions, King's African Rifles, Kenya, Italian Somaliland, Abyssinia and British Somaliland, 1940-1942, and in the Northern Rhodesia Regiment, Kenya, Italian Somaliland, Abyssinia and Northern Rhodesia, 1942-1945.
