- photocopies of correspondence between Mandela and the Department of Justice concerning the proposed inclusion of his name on a list of office-bearers, members and active supporters of the Communist Party of South Africa, 1966-1967, manuscript and typescript
- photocopies of letters from Mandela to the State Attorney and the Supreme Court concerning an application for the removal of his name from the Roll of Attorneys, 1967-1968, typescript
- photocopies of letters from 'Zami' and 'Nobandla' [Winnie Mandela] to Mandela following the death of his mother, relating to her own imprisonment and containing family news, 1968-1972, manuscript and typescript
- photocopy of a letter from Mandela to Winnie complaining of the late receipt, non-receipt and censorship of her letters to him, 1 June 1972
- photocopy of a letter from Mandela to the Minister of Justice concerning Winnie's house arrest, complaining of harrassment by the police and asking for restraint and protection and for the granting of a permit to allow her to acquire a firearm for purposes of self-defence, and requesting a two-hour contact visit, 13 May 1974
