  1. photocopies of correspondence between Mandela and the Department of Justice concerning the proposed inclusion of his name on a list of office-bearers, members and active supporters of the Communist Party of South Africa, 1966-1967, manuscript and typescript
  2. photocopies of letters from Mandela to the State Attorney and the Supreme Court concerning an application for the removal of his name from the Roll of Attorneys, 1967-1968, typescript
  3. photocopies of letters from 'Zami' and 'Nobandla' [Winnie Mandela] to Mandela following the death of his mother, relating to her own imprisonment and containing family news, 1968-1972, manuscript and typescript
  4. photocopy of a letter from Mandela to Winnie complaining of the late receipt, non-receipt and censorship of her letters to him, 1 June 1972
  5. photocopy of a letter from Mandela to the Minister of Justice concerning Winnie's house arrest, complaining of harrassment by the police and asking for restraint and protection and for the granting of a permit to allow her to acquire a firearm for purposes of self-defence, and requesting a two-hour contact visit, 13 May 1974
