'Sensuit la maniere et ensaignement darpenter cordeler et mesurer terres et la maniere de nombrez & prisaigez icelles terres iardins vergiers boys vignes prez landes estangs garannes coulombiers et aultres chouses heritaux ...': beg. 'Et doibt on scavoir que toute maniere darpentaige.'
  2. (fol. 22). 'Cy commencent les coustumes des pais dAniou et du Maine contenans seize parties,' of the date 1463: followed by '... les assietes au taux du Roy' and '... la table ...': (fol. 83v) 'Ci finist la table du coustumier ... acheve le penultime iour de Apuril. Lan Mil Cincq Cens et Troys.'

  5. (fol. 137). 'Notitia æ Andegauensis hæreditariæ,' a title added later: deeds of 1204, 1286 and 1290, in Latin and French.
  6. (fol. 143). Deeds relating to the Prior and Convent of Bonshommes at La Haye near Angers, 1413-1496, largely about their rights over the river: in French.

Custodial History

On (fols. 1-5) are the finely emblazoned arms of an owner of the book (early 16th cent.?: Azure, a saltire between four eaglets displayed or) and of his connexions by marriage. On fol. 6r is 'C. Raymbauld' (c. 1700?). The volume bears Carte's armorial bookplate.

Physical Facet

Binding: On parchment : with coloured arms, rubrics, etc., in the original binding (boards covered with stamped leather), clasps partly gone.
