Correspondence of Helga Greene concerning publication of the letters of Raymond Chandler, Jan 1959-Dec 1961
Correspondence between Helga Greene and publishing houses Houghton Mifflin Company, Hamish Hamilton Limited and Alfred A. Knopf, Incorporated. The correspondence relates to a prospective volume of Chandler's letters, which in 1962 was published as Raymond Chandler Speaking. As well as selected letters, the work also included unpublished notes and views on famous crimes, as well as the first four chapters of 'The Poodle Springs Story,' Chandler's final novel, which he was working on at the time of his death. During the editing stages, the book was provisionally entitled 'Chandler on...' and 'Raymond Chandler: An Autobiography in Letters.'
