Prudence Elizabeth 'Liz' Hodgkin, 1941-1994
Dorothy and Thomas's second child was born on 23 Sept. 1941. Like both her parents, she was a lively and frequent letter-writer and like them, rarely dated letters fully. She shared their political and humanitarian interests, teaching in Zambia, the Sudan and, until the fall of Saigon, in Hanoi. In 1989 she joined Amnesty International. She witnessed several overseas political upheavals and took a keen interest in left-wing developments. Her correspondence is thus of historical and anthropological as well as personal interest, though many of the letters, with few dates and faint or indecipherable date stamps, are of uncertain order. See also MS. Eng. c. 5580/4 in the main Hodgkin papers.
