Biographical / Historical
The Gift Shops Sub-Committee became the Gift Shops Committee on 24 Mar 1965. Frank M. Kershaw was Chairman of these committees, as well as of Oxfam Activities Ltd.. The first meeting of Oxfam Activities Ltd. was on 24 Mar 1965. The Gift Shops Board of Management was appointed on 16 November 1967, taking over from the Gift Shops Committee, with Frank M. Kershaw, again, as the first Chairman.
The Shops Committee was also known as the Shops Steering Committee. John Wallace, the Home Division Director with responsibility for shops and trading, was the Chairman.
The National Shops Strategic Planning Committee was set up in 1975 in order to review and restructure the Oxfam shops and to draw up a strategic plan for the future of the enterprise. The committee met first quarterly, then monthly, disbanding in 1977.
