Smith worked on vitamin B12 from 1938 and was one of the first to isolate crystals in 1948, supplying crystals to Hodgkin for x-ray analysis. The correspondence includes reports re vitamin B12 nomenclature.
Includes correspondence re first samples sent to Hodgkin and typescript copy of draft by Smith on 'The presence of cobalt in the anti-pernicious anaemia factor.'
