Photographic views from the royal tour of Prince Albert to Greece and the Middle East by Francis Bedford. Bedford was the first British photographer to accompany a royal tour. Following a series of royal commissions from Queen Victoria, Bedford was invited by her son Prince Albert (later King Edward VII) to photograph his extensive tour of Greece and the Middle East in 1862.

Biographical / Historical
Francis Bedford was a British photographer, artist, lithographer, and publisher. He began taking photographs around 1851, becoming one of the most successful landscape photographers. He founded a business selling photographic prints to the general public and, at its height, Bedford stocked around 9,000 individual views. He was elected to the Council of the Photographic Society in 1858 and became Vice-President in 1861.
