Biographical / Historical
Joseph Cundall and Robert Howlett formed a partnership in the 1850s, photographing portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes. They famously captured a portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in front of the chains of the Great Eastern Steamship. In 1856 they were comissioned by Queen Victoria to create portraits of the wounded soldiers of the Crimean War.
