Biographical / Historical

John Edward Saché, born Johann Edvart Zachert, was a Prussian photographer who prolifically photographed India in the 1860s and 1870s. He began his career in America and then surfaced in Calcutta in 1865, where he formed a partnership with W.F. Westfield. He worked in Bombay in 1869, and then with Colin Murray until 1870. He ran several studios in Lucknow, Naini Tal, Meerut and Mussoorie.
