Biographical / Historical

Samuel Bourne was a British photographer known for his prolific work in India, from 1863 to 1870. Together with Charles Shepherd, he set up Bourne & Shepherd, a photographic studio opened in Calcutta in 1863. Over seven years, he made around 2,200 photographs of people, landscapes, and architecture in India and the Himalayas.
