Biographical / Historical
Thomas Child was an influential English photographer who photographed Beijing in the 1870s and 1880s. Adelphoi Zangaki was a studio owned by two brothers, C. and G. Zangaki, of Greek origin. They were active as photographers in Ottoman Egypt from the 1860s through to the 1890s. They are best known for their photographs of the pyramids and ancient architecture. John Papillon took photographs of the Anglo-French military expedition in China in 1860, during the Second Opium War.
