Biographical / Historical
Emile and Hippolyte Béchard operated a studio in Cairo in the 1870s. Emile is known for his views of Egypt's cultural heritage, and his brother Hippolyte was known to sell the photographs from the studio. Auguste Mariette was a French scholar, archaeologist, and Egyptologist, and the founder of the Egyptian Department of Antiquities.
