Biographical / Historical
Bourne & Shepherd was a photographic studio opened in Calcutta in 1863 by Samuel Bourne and Charles Shepherd. William Howard joined the studio in 1864, briefly becoming Howard, Bourne and Shepherd before his departure in 1866.
Custodial History
Purchased at Sotheby's UK, 14/04/1989, lot 50. From the collection of Count Carl Wachtmeister of Sweden (1856-1935), the Swedish Royal Family's Equestrian Manager and Aide-de-Camp.
