Biographical / Historical
The 'Bring and Buy a Million Books Appeal' was launched in March 1992 and encouraged people to donate secondhand books to Oxfam shops to be sold to raise money for Oxfam's work. Organisations and groups were encouraged to hold their own book sales, and donate the proceeds to Oxfam. The appeal target was to have a million books donated and sold through Oxfam in 1992, to raise about £500,000.
