Contains a collection of 'the beautiful ideas scattered thro' the Greek and Latin classics on the subject of the setting sun' (fol. 47v), comprising:
  1. (fols. 1-14) fragmentary drafts
  2. (fols. 15-32) a fair copy in Beckford's hand, with some alterations
  3. (fols. 33, 47-54) a fair copy (showing some differences from the previous copy) in the hand of an amanuensis
  4. (fols. 34-43) a fair copy, with alterations by Beckford, of a letter from him to Edward, Baron Thurlow, 22 May 1778, principally an account of Beckford's acquaintances in Geneva
  5. (fols. 44v-6) a fair copy, with a few alterations by Beckford, of ['Hylas'], beg. 'The Pleiades rising with the sun began to diffuse' (another version is in MS. Beckford d. 21, fols. 7-10)
