Some pages in the hand of an amanuensis, with (fol. i) two slips addressed to the publisher Henry Colburn. A different version of the memoir was published anonymously, as Memoirs of William Beckford of Fonthill, 2 vols. (C.J. Skeet, 1859).

The manuscript includes:

(fols. 89-91, 133-9) copies of verses by Beckford
(fols. 164-75) the printed German text of Al Raoui, extracted from the published version (1799), to show 'the proficiency made by Mr Beckford in that language'
