The Arabic manuscripts are described in detail in Alexander Nicoll and E.B. Pusey, Catalogi codicum manuscriptorum orientalium Bibliothecae Bodleianae pars secunda (Oxford, 1835), pp. 145-50. The literal translations into English, made for Beckford c.1780-2, are all in the same unidentified hand, from Wortley Montagu MSS. III, part of V, and VI-VII (MSS. Bodl. Or. 552, 554-6), and are in folded, sometimes sewn, sections. They are discussed by Fatma Moussa Mahmoud, 'A manuscript translation of the Arabian Nights in the Beckford papers', Journal of Arabic Literature, 7 (1976), pp. 7-23.
