Biographical / Historical

The Department of Trade & Industry, created by Heath in 1970, was split up by the incoming Labour Government in 1974 to form the Department of Trade, the Department of Industry, and the Department of Prices & Consumer Protection (see series CRD/B/24, above). However, with the exception of the last of these, most briefs for these departments appear to have been filed under the Parliamentary Commerce Committee - see Series CRD/B/4, above.
