The Conservative Group for Europe was formed in 1969. Its remit was to support and promote Britain's active and full-hearted membership of the European Union and to act as a source of information for the Party on European matters. The Group worked with MPs, MEPs and others with specialist knowledge to produce timely policy research. Publications, which took the form of full policy pamphlets or shorter briefing papers entitled Policy Points, aimed to stimulate debate within the Party and beyond on a wide range of European issues. It also hosted debates on topical European issues, publishing policy research and campaigning in European elections.
In 2021 it was re-launched as the Conservative European Forum, following Britain's exit from the European Union.
