In addition to the regular series of Group Meetings, the European Conservative Group (and later the European Democratic Group) also held Study Day meetings, which were intended to provide a forum for in-depth and long-term policy discussion. Members of the Group would submit papers on questions of policy and strategy for debate during the sessions, which were typically held twice a year.
The Group of the European People's Party (EPP), known as the Group of the European People's Party-European Democrats (EPP-ED) from 1999-2009, also hosted regular Study Day meetings, although the Conservative Party Archive holds few records of these. Reflecting the greater importance of Section-level meetings to the Conservative Delegation from 1992 onwards, the Party also arranged regular Away Days for Conservative MEPs with a similar focus on policy formation and strategy.
