Biographical / Historical
Between 1966 and 1983 the Deputy Director of the Organisation Department had special responsibility for the Woman's Organisation, providing Central Office support for the Women's National Advisory Committee. From approximately 1975 to 1983 the position was additionally styled 'Chief Woman Executive', reflecting this responsibility.
Although formally based within the professional wing of the Party structure, the Deputy Director nonetheless worked closely with the Women's Organisation, and from 1971 concurrently held the office of Hon. Secretary of the Women's National Advisory Committee.
Following a restructuring of the Organisation Department in 1983, responsibility for the Women's Organisation was transferred to the new position of Assistant Director (Women).
