GEC Marine was a management company of GEC created on the purchase by the General Electric Company of Yarrow Shipbuilders Ltd. in 1985. It later encompassed VSEL Ltd., the shipbuilding arm of Vickers Ltd. which was nationalised in 1977, privatised as VSEL Ltd. in 1986 and acquired by GEC in 1995. NNC Ltd. (the National Nuclear Corporation Ltd.) also became a part of GEC Marine, and was a nuclear power stations design and construction company in which GEC had a 30% share.
