This was formed as the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company Ltd. in 1883 and became the Edison Swan Electric Company Ltd. in 1916. It was acquired by British Thomson-Houston in 1927, and so became a part of Associated Electrical Industries Ltd. It was amalgamated with Siemens 1957 to form Siemens Edison Swan Ltd.
