The letter-books contain copies of Baron Howden's letters (some in Spanish with a few in French) to British and Spanish officials and diplomats, including the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Each volume has a chronological index of letters giving the name of each addressee, and including some Spanish press cuttings.
