Biographical / Historical
Tigger Stack's association with Oxfam began in 1966[?] after becoming involved in the response to the famine in Bihar, India. Stack had spent most of her life in India and was living in Kolkata in the 1960s as she was married to the General Manager of Dunlop (India). Stack worked at various times for Oxfam in the South Asia region, including setting up its field office in Pakistan to deal with the Afghan refugee exodus in 1980. In the late 1970s-early 1980s her job title was 'Kampuchea [Cambodia] Information Officer' and in 1983 she conducted an evaluation of the 1979-1981 Kampuchea Oxfam-NGO Consortium relief operation which had been commissioned by the Oxfam Asia Field Committee. Tigger Stack worked extensively in the Press Office/ Media Unit.
Arrangement
MS. Oxfam COM/3/2/1-30 had been catalogued prior to transferral to the Bodleian Library. This arrangement, which was largely random, has been retained, with reference numbers having been allocated to individual files, rather than boxes of files, as they were received by the archive.
MS. Oxfam COM/3/2/31-104 have been catalogued with a reference number being allocated to a box rather than a file, as is the case elsewhere in this collection.
The latter files have been arranged according to the most dominant theme in their contents as follows:
- the 'project files', containing material related to projects, fundraising, appeals and promotions
- files containing material that relates to the debt of developing countries, aid and development, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and summit meetings
- files containing material relating to particular countries or regions
- files containing material relating to appeals, campaigns and promotions
- files containing material relating to media coverage evaluations and statistics
- correspondence files of individual members of Oxfam staff
- files containing material relating to celebrity involvement with Oxfam and Oxfam 'personalities'
However, they may also contain material relating to other themes.
