Brownlee retired on 30 Sep 2008. This box includes his curriculum vitae and publications list and a notebook which covers experiments including:
- Brownlee continued experiments with the karyopherins (importin αs) basically testing the hypothesis that the importins could modulate polymerase activity.
- Experiment 287: Possible different affinity of some importins for 627 E or K, and experiment 297 - the sequence of the human importin K5 clone (originally from Peter Palese’s lab) is incorrect.
- Experiments 319, 320: PB2 K627E mutant of A/WSN strengthens importin binding particularly of α3 (k4) & α5 (k1), but note there is strong binding of PB2 to Hsp70 which may be mediating this phenomenon. Experiments were not publishable.
- Post doctoral researcher Jitka Vedova's A/WSN P3 Baculovirus preparations, although very impure, were active in the dinucleotide (ApG synthesis) in vitro assays (experiments 307, 316).
