Letters from John Bayley continue to discuss literature and occasionally contain poetry. Many letters refer to Iris Murdoch's final years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1997, drawing parallels with Watson's own loss of her companion Pamela Redmayne. Includes:
  1. letter discussing Bayley's marriage to Audi Villers, and the last occasion that Bayley, Murdoch and Watson were together, 2000
  2. postcard from Audi Villers, 2001
  3. letter, including typescript poem, 'Ballade of dead gentlemen', sent to Bayley by C.S. Lewis. The first half is written by C.S. Lewis, with revisions and the second half by Bayley, 2001
  4. letters regarding Richard Eyre's film Iris (2001) which was based on Bayley's memoirs, 2001, 2002
  5. photograph of Iris Murdoch and John Bayley , n.d.
  6. photograph of Iris Murdoch and an unidentified woman, n.d.
  7. letter discussing how Bayley became engaged to Villers, referring to his earlier proposals to Murdoch and Watson, n.d.
