Biographical / Historical
Kenneth Mason (1887-1976) was a geographer and mountaineer. He joined the survey of India in 1909 and in 1929 co-founded the Himalayan Club and its publication, the Himalayan Journal, which he edited until 1945.
Mason was Professor of Geography at Oxford University from 1932 to 1953. During the Second World War he worked with the Naval Intelligence Division based in Oxford which organised a series of 'Admiralty Handbooks' on overseas territories.
