Comprises letters to Elspeth Huxley from her mother, Nellie Grant, written mostly from Gikammeh Farm, Njoro, Kenya:

(file 1) - 18 Jan-29 Nov 1946 (42 letters, 60 fols). Elspeth Huxley left Kenya early in January.
(file 2) - 21 Jun-28 Dec 1947 (27 letters, 47 fols). Elspeth Huxley was in Kenya from Jan to Jun; her father, Josceline Grant, died on 7 Apr.
(file 3) - 2 Jan-26 Dec 1948 (48 letters, 77 fols).
(file 4) - 2 Jan-10 Apr 1949 (14 letters, 22 fols). Nellie Grant left Kenya 27 Apr for a year in England. She returned to Kenya in early 1950, but her letters from then until Oct 1952 have not survived.
(file 5) - 1 Oct-28 Dec 1952 (9 letters, 20 fols). A letter of 21 Mar, with no year given, would seem to be 1952. The regular series begins on 1 Oct.
(file 6) - 6 Jan-27 Dec 1953 (29 letters, 41 fols). No letters between 20 Sep and 27 Dec when Elspeth Huxley was in Kenya, except a letter to Gervas Huxley, 7 Dec.
(file 7) - 3 Jan-26 Dec 1954 (56 letters, 88 fols).
(file 8) - 3 Jan-30 Dec 1955 (33 letters, 47 fols). No letters 6 Mar-24 Jul when Nellie Grant was on a visit to England, including a trip to Italy.
(file 9) - 7 Jan-29 Dec 1956 (40 letters, 60 fols). No letters from 12 Sep to 23 Dec when Elspeth Huxley was in Kenya, collecting material for her book on the Kenya Farmers' Association ( No Easy Way).
(file 10) - 6 Jan-25 Nov 1957 (48 letters, 70 fols). Letters to 25 Nov as Huxley family came to Kenya for Christmas holidays. Elspeth Huxley stayed on to Mar 1958.
(file 11) - 24 Mar-26 Dec 1958 (43 letters, 38 fols). Elspeth Huxley left Kenya in March; Gervas Huxley visited Kenya in November.
