Letters of condolence received after the death of Sir William Harris, correspondence relating to his memorials in St George's Chapel and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Holborn, and a copy of the service booklet for a memorial evensong held at Windsor on 9 Oct 1973.
Correspondents include: John Birch, Launcelot Fleming, Edward Heath, Herbert Howells, Sir Owen Morshead, Richard Lathan, Christopher Robinson, W.H. Stone (with an annotated photograph of Lichfield Cathedral Choir 1910-1912, including Harris); telegram from H.M. Queen Elizabeth.
Folder 2:
Correspondence, etc. (mainly with Harris' daughter, Mrs Ann Eggar) primarily relating to: the Harris centenary concert at St George's Chapel, Windsor (19 Mar 1983), and recording projects of Harris' music by Andrew Carwood and the Exon Singers (ASV 1997), and Timothy Byran-Wigfield and the St George's Choir (Naxos 2006), including several letters from Alastair Sampson.
Folder 3:
Three letters to Harris from Robert Bridges (1923-1930) and one from his widow (1934); with a copy of Bridges' obituary from The Times, 22 Apr 1930.
Folder 4:
List of works by Harris (in the composer's hand) and various later typed inventories of the manuscripts which remained with the family.
Folder 5:
Miscellaneous items, including small numbers of concert programmes (some annotated), press cuttings, and correspondence with the publishers Novello & Co. [The programmes are listed in the national Concert Programmes database.]
