Diary from William Sterndale Bennett's first visit to Leipzig, with entries written almost every day. The composer learnt German and immersed himself in the musical life of the cities he visited (Berlin, Dresden, Mainz). He was frequently in the company of other musicians, such as Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Julius Kistner, Aloys Schmitt, Robert Schumann and Johann Georg Voigt.
