Letter of 15 September is incomplete (3pp. only).
The letters are mainly concerned with the outbreak of the Second World War, air-raids and the departure of Milne's two eldest children, Eleanor and Margaret, to America.
The letters of 4 September 1939 and 3 July 1940 are concerned with Beatrice Renwick whom Milne married as his second wife in June 1940 after her adventurous journey from New York through Italy and France during the German advance.
