The Regional Government Policy Group first met in February 1966, 'to consider the future of regional and local government from the point of view both of structure and policy and their relation to central government'. Members included Geoffrey Rippon, Charles Morrison, Peter Kirk, Arthur Jones, James Allason, R. Graham Page, Oscar Murton and Bernard Hayhoe.

The Savings Policy Group first met 23 July 1968, to examine existing Party policy on savings and to provide additional incentives, as well as 'self-provision for social purposes and consequential savings in Government expenditure'. Members included Maurice Macmillan and T.E. Boswell.
