Files relating to grants made by Oxfam for development education projects have been catalogued separately as part of the Catalogue of the Oxfam Archive: Records of grants made by Oxfam ('project files'), shelfmark MS. Oxfam PRF. However, files relating to grants made by On the Line, a coalition organisation of which Oxfam was a member, have been listed in this catalogue, under MS. Oxfam DEV/3, as these grants, unlike Oxfam's development education project grants, did not go through Oxfam's usual grant-making accounting systems.

One main strand of grants made as part of the On the Line project was the On the Line Schools Project Grants Scheme, with project references beginning with 'A' plus a number, which funded mainly regional Development Education Centres to carry out educational projects for local schools themed on the Prime Meridian Line and the countries it passes through. The other main strand was the On the Line Millennium Awards, which were funded by the Millennium Commission, but administered via On the Line, and paid grants to individuals aged between 18-35 to carry out their own projects in the U.K. in the fields of arts, culture, sport, education or community action and make connections with one or more countries on the Meridian Line.

Other grants appear to have been made to partner organisations by On the Line, for instance for creating educational resources relating to the central themes of the project, but it is unclear under what criteria these grants were made. Correspondence files with partners and relating to sub-projects forming a core part of the work of On the Line have been catalogued with the main body of On the Line correspondence under MS. Oxfam DEV/4/3.
