Biographical / Historical

The international conference 'Children, Repression and the Law in Apartheid South Africa' was held in Harare, Zimbabwe, in September 1987. It was convened by Huddleston under the auspices of the Bishop Ambrose Reeves Trust.

The Harare Working Group was formed by the British participants who attended the conference. The Group, convened by Southern Africa - the Imprisoned Society (SATIS), aimed to co-ordinate campaigning work in Britain on the issue of children under apartheid. In 1988 the Group became the SATIS Committee on Children.
