- (fols. 46-50) postcards and telegrams from Ireland while awaiting a flight back to the United States, 1942
- (fols. 51-92) communications about Berlin's breakdown in health (which he tried to conceal from his parents) on his return to New York after leave in Britain, his hospitalisation and subsequent convalescence with Chaim and Vera Weizmann, 1942
- (fols. 116-120) confession of the true severity of Berlin's illness in 1942, after his parents had discovered more from another source, 1943
- (fol. 137) comments on F.D. Roosevelt, 1943
- (fols. 143-144) mention of a fleeting encounter with Winston Churchill, 1943
