Peierls visited the Theoretical Physics Research Institute, Helsinki, 3-15 June, and attended the Symposium on 'The Foundations of Modern Physics: 50 years of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Gedankenexperiment'. The visit was supported by the British Council. Material comprises correspondence and a copy of his report to the British Council, 1984-1985. In the course of his stay in Helsinki, Peierls made a short visit to Leningrad (see MS. 11619/54/J.60).

Peierls served on the Advisory Committee of the Joensuu Conference and gave a paper on 'Observations in quantum mechanics and the "Collapse of the wave function"'. Material comprises correspondence, comments on programme and a draft of his paper, 1983-1985.
